D.I.Y. Mixtape CD Sleeve

I'm back with another crafty tutorial using Adobe Photoshop Elements! Today I thought it'd be fun to show you how to make your own custom cd sleeves! Mixtapes totally aren't a thing of the past right? Well, we're planning on whipping some homemade mixtapes to give to our wedding guests featuring some of our very favorite songs. I wanted to keep the whole DIY theme to the wedding while not spending too much money. This method is perfect!

I went ahead and created a PNG template for you to download and use during this. That way you don't have to make it yourself! Just CLICK HERE and save the image to your computer. You'll see where to place it in step two.

Supplies that you'll need for this:

Adobe Photoshop Elements -- Cardstock paper -- Printer

Ruler and Exacto (or another cutting utensil) -- Glue

Your favorite tunes on an awesome mix CD

Don't let the number of steps fool you... this project is very easy! I broke it down in the tiniest steps so I don't lose anyone along the way. You can use photos, graphics, hand-drawn elements, etc for this project. You can even print it out on scrapbook paper for a cool pattern (or scan it in!), or print the back out completely blank and handwrite the track list for an extra special touch. Your call! It doesn't have to be as extensive as mine below. You can find some great free fonts to use at DaFont.com!

“An extraordinary and visually confounding installation…Erlich constructed a full-size pool, complete with all its trappings, including a deck and a ladder.

When approached from the first floor, visitors were confronted with a surreal scene: people, fully clothed, can be seen standing, walking, and breathing beneath the surface of the water.

It was only when visitors entered the Duplex gallery from the basement that they recognized that the pool is empty, its construction a visual trick fashioned by the artist.

A large, continuous piece of acrylic spanned the pool and suspended water above it, creating the illusion of a standard swimming pool that was both disorienting and humorous.”

If I were there I'd go all out...but, I guess its cooler when its more realistic.

Q:How many colors do you have and what pens are these?
A: I have 8 colored Bic ballpoint pens, for this I used 6 of them plus black. They are just common everyday ballpoint pens.
Q: Where do you get them? I have never seen them.
A: Staples, Ebay, Amazon, and pretty much any good office supply store, just because you haven't noticed them before doesn't mean they don't exist.
Q: Do you use any other medium mixed with the ballpoint pens?
A: No, I just use ballpoint pens for these drawings. Everything is 100% ballpoint pen.
Q: How do you mix the colors? How do you blend them?
A: I don't mix them nor blend them. Ballpoint pen ink dries instantly and can not be erased. I just cross hatch the different colors in layers to create the illusion of blending and the illusion of colors I don't actually have.
Q: Are you a professional Artist?
A: No, I'm just a lawyer, art is just a hobby for me, although it takes from 5 to 50 hours to finish each drawing. I started drawing when I was 2.
